Process

Investigation Phase:

In my investigation phase I used many sources, I found it a bit more difficult to find sources this year though, because last year I already used quite a lot and there was a relatively limited amount. The sources I did find were many different websites and some online books. I also had an interview with a professional designer to receive some advice before making my product. I used the online sources to find out which parts of my boots could make it perfect for the different parts of the boots. I also found it very useful when people gave me feedback on my process like the designer did. Another thing that the designer helped me with for my investigation phases was the overall advice that she gave me that helped me towards starting and finishing my final product and different design sketches. Overall my investigation phase shaped how my product turned out and it also helped me to choose the different things that I wanted to be in my product.

Planning Process:

For the majority of the process of developing my product, I had a very vague plan that I did not often work off of. For most of the process, I would write down small notes for when I wanted to do things by instead of spending very valuable time simply making a long plan. Each week I had different goals and using my personal planning technique that I came up with it helped me to succeed with my product and my overall process of the whole process of the project. In the beginning I had issues with planning because I was bad at organizing but I was able to overcome all these problems to make a very good final product and a sufficient process journal. The main problem I faced was me slacking off of working. At the beginning I was very lazy with my planning and I simply did things off the top of my head without personally organizing anything or not even making a weekly plan which I eventually started to do further on in the process of making my product, my design sketches, the overall process and in the near future, my report. To sum it up, I would say that I thought I wouldn't need to plan because it would be easy, this was as I had done it already last year and I thought improving it would be a walk in the park. This was not the case as similar to last year I made my product over the autumn break and that was the time when my planning skills started to show.

Process of Taking Action:

The process of taking action and making my product was a shorter time period than it should have been. This is purely down to my lack of planning and organization. Here is from my PJ about me taking action in the October break:

October 16th:

So far today I have started my final product for my personal project. The first view I am working on is the one from the view from the outside. I used my sketches as inspiration for my design and I used some of the key features to help me meet my criteria. To design my football boots I emulated the structure of the Nike Phantom Vision Boot. This was because it was a similar style to the boot that I was aiming to design, it had a sock and no laces which was what I wanted to use in my boot. I put a screenshot of the Nike boot and I have converted it into a blank template for me to work on and make into my very own perfect football boot. I tried to go for a very nice colour scheme and I think that I achieved that goal. I went for yellow and light blue which were both ideas on both of my sketches. Using photoshop I could do whatever I wanted to with the colour and I set the primary colour as black with grey dots splatted around, it looks much more aesthetically pleasing and I’m happy with how it turned out. I also set the “perfect” aspects of the boot to grey so they would become clear to the viewer. Overall I am very much satisfied with how the design for my first view has gone and I hope that I can continue to produce such work for my other views.
